Introduction

One of my favorite parts of camping is definitely cooking. You can see some of my favorite camp recipes over here.

Obviously, the most important aspect of camp cooking involves some some sort of heat source whether you decide to go with a camp fire, a camp stove or a small grill. I like the versatility of having a camp grill.

In my search, the Weber Q1000 stood out as an excellent choice. If you want a grill with side tables as well, check out the Weber Q1000’s big brother, the Weber Q1200.

What I Like about the Weber Q1000 Grill

As I mentioned before, the Weber Q1000 grill is really versatile and that is it’s greatest strength. Not only can you use it as a standard grill but it also has a split-grate so you can use it as a grate/griddle cooking combination if you’d prefer.

Drawbacks

Weight. This thing isn’t exactly what I’d call light so if that’s what you’re aiming for with your camp cook set up, this probably isn’t the right choice.

Some people have complained that this doesn’t get hot enough. I’ve never experienced this issue but it’s worth noting.

Recommended Accessories

Weber Q1000 Cover

While camping, we leave the grill out on the camp kitchen so it’s nice to have the Weber Q1000 cover on it so the sun doesn’t just beat down on it all day. It also helps with sand, dirt, wind, etc.

Weber Aluminum Drip Pans

These grease drip pans are super handy to have because they slide into the built-in grease catcher on the grill and they make cleaning a breeze. When you’re done cooking, you can just slide it out and throw them away. Cleaning grease isn’t super fun so this is an easy solution. Although if you’re trying to minimize your impact, you’ll probably just want to stick to cleaning it out so you’re not throwing extra stuff away.

Weber 6557 Q Portable Rolling Cart

I always bring my camp kitchen to set my grill on but if you don’t have a table set up, the Weber Rolling Cart might be a good option for you.

Weber 6558 Griddle Top for Q1000 Grill

If you want to use the grill as a griddle, the Weber Griddle Top is helpful too. You can just remove and replace the existing grill side and then use it to cook eggs or whatever else you might want.

Grill Mats

Another option instead of the griddle top is to use grill mats. Cut them to size to fit the grill and then you can use them to cook things like eggs, bacon, etc.
